The bracelet and earrings relate to a gold pectoral pendant by William Scott, 1961, now in the collection of the Victoria & Albert Museum, London. This pendant was exhibited at the International Jewellery Exhibition held at Goldsmiths Hall, London, 1961 and at the Victoria & Albert Museum, Jewellery Gallery, London, Modern Artists' Jewels, September - November 1984, cat. no. 38, illus. in colour.
An extract from an entry in Mary Scott's diary on Tuesday 26 September 1961 states that 'McWilliams come. W. sends off bracelet to Olga.'
This dates the letter from Scott to Olga sent from Elm Tree Cottage in which he writes;
'I was very pleased that you like the earings [sic]. I have now made for you the bracelet to match. We are expecting Mac and Beth today '
(The Mac and Beth to whom Scott refers are F.E. McWilliam and his wife).
Some years later, (2nd January 1966) on the occasion of Scott being awarded CBE, Olga writes to congratulate him. In this she mentions that Clem Greenberg (Clement Greenberg), 'caught sight of my bracelet and gazed at it with the greatest admiration. "Isn't that marvellous" he said. ''I told you Scott was one of the finest artists working today" said I firmly. One more bracelet triumph! It brings delight daily dearest William, and is seldom off my arm.'
