With the additional unpaginated leaf in quire I. Publisher's original hardback cloth, spine and front cover lettered in gilt, printed yellow wrappers used as endpapers (corner tips rubbed very lightly, bookplate over text on front pastedown). Provenance: ‘Value in 1912. £1.0 0’ (inscription in red ink at head of front cover).
SECOND EDITION IN HARDBACK, thirty-fourth in the series. Good coverage is given to the Australians in England, 1896 (the ninth tour), and Lilley, Richardson, Ranjitsinhji, Trumble and Gregory are the 'Five Cricketers of the Year'. Ranji’s aggregate score of 2780 runs in the season breaks Grace’s record of 2739 set in 1871. A WELL-PRESERVED COPY. Roger Hancock’s smaller bookplate conceals part of the advertising text on the front pastedown.
