A COLLECTION OF DECORATED LEAVES, on vellum and paper, [15th -- 20th centuries]. Including a leaf from a choirbook [Spain, 17th century], 580 x 380mm, 9 lines on the verso in a post-medieval script in black ink and music of square notation on five-line staves, with a miniature on the recto in the style of the SPANISH FORGER [late 19th/early 20th century] depicting a monk presenting a book before a king and his councillors in an interior setting with tiled floor, an illuminated initial 'R' in red on a gold ground with blue acanthus tendrils extending around the text, which consists of the 'Rex Gloriose Martyrum' hymn from Lauds; a leaf from a choirbook [15th century], 585 x 400mm, 5 lines written in a well-spaced gothic hand in black ink with music of square notation, featuring three historiated initials upon gold grounds retouched in the 19th century.
Also including a leaf bearing the coat of arms of Castro y Zuñiga, 385 x 265mm; a decorative motif, 188 x 358mm [18th century?] incorporating foliate and naturalistic details; and a decorated leaf by the lithographer ALBERT WARREN (1830-1911) presented in 1904 to Edward Eden Peacock (1850-1909), 394x285mm, for his services as Honorary Secretary of London's Savage Club.
