Contemporary presentation binding for Czar Alexander III, polished calf, front cover with elaborate title panel executed in gilt and red morocco, smooth spine gilt, edges gilt, by R. Gerhold, Leipzig (some rubbing along spine and at corners, some scuffs on covers). Provenance: Czar Alexander III (bookplate; sold at the sale of "Rare Russian Books" from the libraries of the czars at Tsarskoe-Selo and Gatchins, 12 April 1934, lot 64).
DELUXE EDITION IN RUSSIAN, one of apparently 1,250 copies. This Russian edition is very scarce, with no copies appearing in the Slavic Union Catalogue.
