AN IMPORTANT COLLECTION OF MEDIAEVAL SPANISH AND NORTH AFRICAN MANUSCRIPTS
This collection comprises sixteen mediaeval works, the majority of which have been copied in muslim Spain with the addition of some north African examples. Ranging from the mid-11th century to the 15th century, they showcase the refinement reached by the Western Islamic culture of that period. These manuscripts copied in elegant andalusi maghribi script on high quality paper express the taste and interest of the learned society of the Taifas through to the Almohads, Merinids and Hafsids dynasties. This collection spans five centuries of Spanish and north African book-making and represents a rare opportunity to acquire fine copies of important Islamic texts.
