Half title, 7 chromolithographed plates by William Nicholson, 3 double-page (light localised stain to first few leaves, some light mainly marginal spotting and staining, caption of one plate cropped). Original tan pictorial boards by Nicholson, coloured decorated endpapers (some minor erosion to head of spine, joints splitting at foot, edges rubbed, some very light staining). FIRST EDITION of this enduring children's classic.
