CONTEMPORARY GOLD MOUNTED TORTOISE-SHELL FOLDING BOX FOR QUEEN ANNE, possibly Portuguese, covers with gold filigree decoration on a foliated rococo medallion enclosing bunches of grapes, edges covered in fine gold foil, spine with a gold plaque with engraved crown beneath the name of God in Hebrew and banner reading BY ME KINGS REIGNE, ANNE REGINA engraved on bottom, three filigree baskets of flowers on spine. Provenance: Henrietta M.S. Stuart (gift card tipped to flyleaf: "Henrietta M.S. Stuart from her affectionate husband William Stuart. 9th August 1852. The 31st Anniversary of their wedding"); sold Parke-Bernet, 7 October 1955 (sale of silver, porcelain and decorative arts); Cornelius J. Hauck, purchased from Emil Offenbacher, 10 October 1955.
