2o (315 x 221 mm). Woodcut arms on title, eight engraved plates (two forming one panorama, 3 folding). 19th-century yellow wrappers (some chipping and loss); cloth folding case. Provenance: J.D. Hoerner (19th century note on front free endpaper); German royal bookplate on title verso.
Valesio's work describes and illustrates the celebrations on the anniversary of the death of POPE GREGORY XV (1554- 1623) which were held in his native Bologna under the auspices of Cardinal Ludovisi. The fine engravings show the funeral decorations in the Cathedral of Bologna. Berlin 3202; Cicognara 1431.
