BOLOGNA 1673 -- La distruttione d'Alba. Rappresentata in Bologna Da gl'Illustrissimi Signori Confaloniere di Giustitia, et Anziani Del Quarto Bimestre M.DC.LXIII. in occasione della Festa della Porchetta. Bologna: Manolessi, 1673.
Small 4o (201 x 124 mm). Large folding engraved plate after PROSPERO MANZINI (a few repaired tears, pale stain at center). Later quarter pigskin. Provenance: "V.L." (inkstamp on title).
At the Festa della Porchetta in Bologna in 1673, the destruction of Alba was reenacted. Prospero Manzini's fine large folding plate depicts this scene, with the armies of Alba and Rome approaching one another. The Festa della Porchetta was celebrated in Bologna for more than five centuries, at least from 1254 until 1796.
