4° (255 x 195 mm). Engraved folding map, 3pp. errata. (Some light spotting.) Contemporary sprinkled calf, spine in 6 compartments gilt with 5 raised bands, brown morocco lettering-piece, edges gilt (some light wear, upper hinge repaired).
FIRST EDITION of this “highly esteemed work, with an account of the Carib race, some of whom yet remained, at that time, in Martinique” (Sabin). The work includes a chart of meteorlogical observations from 1751, as well as observations on topography. Sabin 11936.
