Engraved title, colophon at end, woodcut diagrams, historiated initials (title a little soiled and waterstained, light mainly marginal waterstaining, mostly at beginning, some spotting, a few leaves browned). Contemporary vellum, manuscript title on spine (spine and corners worn, soiled and rubbed). Provenance: British Astronomical Association (faded stamp at bottom and top right hand corner of title).
FIRST EDITION, a summary of all that was known of gnomonics at the time. Clavius describes the different ways of constructing sundials and also discusses the astronomical background. Adams C2098; EDIT online 12671.
