4° (415 x 295mm). Parallel Russian and French text in two columns. 217 engraved illustrations. (Occasional light scattered spotting, and light browning in the margins.) Publisher's original pictorial blue cloth, by O. Kirchner with his ticket, sides with elaborate frame blocked in black, upper side blocked in gilt with the imperial regalia and titled in gilt, lower side centred with the imperial eagle in blind, original printed endpapers, edges gilt (extremities rubbed, upper side soiled and discoloured near the top edge). Provenance: J.J. Heckenauer, Tübingen (bookseller's small ticket) -- Günther, Biberach (signature).
