The city of Danzig celebration of the coronation and visit of AUGUSTUS II "The Strong" (1670-1733), with great festivities, including fireworks. August "der Starke" was as Friedrich August I the Elector of Saxony (1694-1733), later also King of Poland and Grand Duke of Lithuania (1697-1704) and again (1709-1733). He is best remembered as a partron of the arts and architecture. He established Dresden the Saxon capital as major cultural center, amassed an impressive art collection and built important baroque palaces in Dresden and Warsaw. Berlin 2867; Vinet 773.
