Original purple cloth, covers decorated in blind, spine lettered in gilt, uncut (spine lightly faded to brown, extremities slightly bumped); quarter red morocco gilt slipcase. Provenance: Kenyon Starling (bookplate).
FIRST SINGLE VOLUME EDITION, bound from the monthly parts. With the plate "Parish Engine" bound between pages 4 and 5, all plates before "Greenwich Fair" (at p. 120) without the Chapman & Hall imprint. Eckel, p. 15; Smith I: 1 p. 16 (note).
