Provenance: ‘JD Hobson 1941 from the Yates Thompson sale’ (inscription on free endpaper, followed by a list of bindings). FIRST EDITION.
With Domenico Maria Manni’s Vita di Aldo Pio Manuzio (Venice, 1759), engraved frontispiece portrait and engraved vignette on title, uncut in contemporary limp boards; and James Toovey’s [Bibliotheca Aldiana] Catalogue of an extensive and extraordinary Assemblage of the Productions of the Aldine Press, from its first Establishment at Venice (London, 1880), uncut in contemporary morocco-backed boards, with the bookplate of Evelyn Philip Shirley.
