4o (195 x 140 mm). Title-page with woodcut device of Filippo Giunta II, woodcut initials, and 2 full-page etchings (one etching cropped slightly affecting border of image). (Some occasional pale spotting.) Later limp vellum.
The funeral obsequies of FRANCESCO I DE' MEDICI (1541-1587), Grand-Duke of Tuscany. The work is illustrated with two plates, one showing the funeral procession through the streets of Florence and the other depicting the decorations inside the church at San Lorenzo with Francesco's catafalque, designed by BERNARDO BUONTALENTI, at center. Francesco I and his second wife, Bianca Cappello, both died on 17 October 1587, fueling speculation that they had been poisoned. Berlin 3186; Graesse VI, 429; Lipperheide Si 11; Ruggieri 733.
