Volumes I-III only (of 4), 2° (485 x 328mm). 166 numbered etched plates only (of 185), most by or by and after Fontana. Half-title in vol. I. (Lacks plates 7-8 in vol. I, and plates 50-51, 56-60, 63 and 65-73 in vol. III, vol. II lacks quire 2, vol. III lacking all text after p. 24.) Text in original printed wrappers to three of the parts, backed in modern cloth, plates unbound, together in modern green cloth box.
FIRST EDITION. Originally issued in parts, publication probably not being completed until 1855. The British Architectural Library copy has the imprint of G.B. Marini on all the titles, that to vol. I being re-used for the subsequent vols. with the date altered to '1838'. The first three vols. provde views, interiors, plans and sections of 34 churches in Rome and its environs with brief descriptive texts. The fourth vol., absent here, was entirely devoted to St. Peter's. RARE. Fossati Bellani 968; RIBA 1097; Rossetti 1568 (4 vols).
