4o (193 x 148 mm). 8 engraved folding plates. (Some light browning and staining.) Late 19th-century reddish morocco gilt (spine evenly faded). Provenance: unidentified coat-of-arms on paste-down.
Commemorating the election and coronation in Frankfurt-am-Main of MATTHIAS I (1557-1619), previously Matthias II, King of Hungary, as Holy Roman Emperor and of his wife Anne, Archduchess of Austria (1585-1618). The plates "in the manner of de Bry" (Drugulin) show the procession, the coronation, the election, the royal banquet, celebration on the town square "Roemer," the dance, the tournament and other festivities.
