(Occasional faint damp stain in the bottom margin of volume 2.) Contemporary Italian red morocco, sides centred with the gilt arms of Clement XIV and with a roll-tooled border, spines lettered directly and gilt in compartments centred with a poppy, gilt edges, volume 2 with buntpapier endpapers (spines lightly and evenly faded, sides of volume 2 lightly scuffed and darkened). Provenance: Pope Clement XIV (1705-1774) – Biblioteca Piervissana (title stamp and shelf-mark).
FIRST EDITION. IN A HANDSOME PAPAL BINDING of red morocco for Pope Clement XIV, who began his reign in the year Ginanni’s book was published.
