4° (325 x 240mm). 4 chromolithographs on mounts with printed captions, 4 plates on 3 leaves, illustrations throughout, including numerous photo-type portraits of officers. (Marginal dampstain in the first few leaves.) Contemporary cloth preserving the original printed paper cover on the upper side (rebacked, extremities rubbed, some touches of colour). Provenance: 'Printed in Russia' (small title stamp).
FIRST EDITION. The 13th Dragoons, formed in 1709, is the only regiment to have been awarded the order of St. George The Martyr and Victor -- the Russian Imperial army's most prestigious distinction. The planned third volume was never published, while the first, covering the period 1709-1809 appeared as the history of the 37th Dragoons Münnich Regiment. Lyons 1058; Zaionchkovskii 2169.
