Contemporary vellum (some light darkening to spine and covers). Provenance: Christfried Kirch (1694-1740) astronomer and member of the Academy of Science in Berlin from 1716 (contemporary signature on front paste down).
FIRST EDITION of this rare popular scientific and astronomical work, discussing the astronomical discoveries of Copernicus, Flamsteedt, Galileo, Halley, Hevelius, Kepler, Newton, Regiomontanus, and many others. Sotheran I, 1732; not in Houzeau & Lancaster or Caillet.

Very rare, we located only one other copy of this work in the Herzog August Bibliothek in Wolfenbuettel, Germany.
