Engraved frontispiece and 60 plates by Grignion, Philips, Cole and others after Hill, Wale, Edward and Van Huysum (one plate soiled, the rest clean and fresh, marginal loss to Mm not affecting text, fore-edge tear to Qq2 without loss). Contemporary calf (recently rebacked with new corners, joints rubbed and worn, tail of spine defective, covers scuffed).
FIRST EDITION of this fine practical work on gardening, edited by 'Sir' John Hill. Hill brought out another edition under his own name in 1773. Nissen BBI 880; Henrey 776. With two other books on gardening and botany. (3)
