The wedding of FRIEDRICH V, (1596-1632) Elector of the Palatinate to the ELIZABETH STUART (1596-1662), the only daughter of King James I of England was of major political, religious and cultural significance. The "Description of the journey of Friedrich V" relates the journey of Friedrich and his entourage to London, the celebration of the marriage, the journey of both back to Heidelberg and the events surrounding their entry into the city which included a mock tournament in which Friedrich acted in the role of Jason securing the Golden Fleece. The illustrations of this volume focus on the journey back to Heidelberg and the triumphal entry, depicting gates, camps, processions, floats, costumes etc. The firework engraving "Abriss dess Triumphfewerwercks" is by the Frankfurt engraver and painter GEORG KELLER (1568-1634).
