2 parts in one, 12o (156 x 84 mm). Engraved folding map from the 1687 Dutch edition "Kaart van Nieuw Vrankyrk en van Louisania" (178 x 280 mm) (cropped along right margin with loss of some text and border, a few areas reinforced on verso). Modern green morocco in period style.
Second edition in French, a near exact reproduction of the 1683 edition with some slight changes in wording and typographical errors proving it is a reprint. The work was also reissued in 1684 using sheets of the 1683 edition slightly altered in two issues. The 1688 French edition was issued with a map; the present copy includes a Dutch edition of the map from 1687. RARE: according to American Book Prices Current, only one copy of the 1688 French edition has appeared at auction in the last thirty years: Oinonen, 22 September 1987, lot 90.
