3 volumes, 8o (178 x 120 mm). Engraved vignettes on titles and engraved illustrations throughout. Contemporary light calf, covers with double gilt-rule border enclosing mottled and stained borders, blind and gilt fillets and rolls, and central grained panel, spines in 6 compartments wilt 5 raised bands, gilt-lettered in two compartments, a repeated ornamental gilt panel in the rest, edges gilt with three fore-edge paintings of CASTLES (upper cover to volume 3 partially detached, otherwise joints lighly rubbed, some light scuffing). Provenance: Estelle Doheny (her sale Christie's New York; 21 February 1989; lot 1948).
