Venice: Robertus Meiettus and Bologna: Meiettus and Giovanni Battista Ciotto, 1592. Small 4° (210 x 145mm). Printer’s device on title, numerous woodcut illustrations or diagrams, ornamental initials, headpieces. (Lower margin of title repaired, light water-staining mainly in lower margin at beginning, outer margin of O4r repaired, stain in outer margin from fol. 95 to end, a few leaves browned or stained, some spotting.) Contemporary vellum, lettering-piece, author and date in manuscript on front cover (lightly soiled, extremities rubbed). Provenance: faded inscription on title.
First and only edition of this treatise on plane triangles. The work ‘contains the most extensive table of squares and roots that had appeared up to 1592’ (Smith).
