[MARCHETTI, Alessandro (1633-1714)]. Conclusioni intorno a' momenti de' gravi sopra i piani declivi proposte per difendersi contro a qualunque oppugnatore. Florence: Nel Garbo all'Insegna della Stella, 1688.
4° (229 x 160mm). Half-title, woodcut initials and tailpieces, woodcut diagrams in the text. Slightly later flexible card wrappers (spine rubbed). Provenance: evidence of label removed from front pastedown.
SECOND EDITION, PUBLISHED A YEAR AFTER THE FIRST, of this mathematical defence of Galileo's proposition of uniform acceleration. The work is attributed on the title-page to Marchetti's son Angelo, but since the latter was only 14 at the time of publication this would appear unlikely. Carli-Favaro 88 (373); Riccardi II 108.
