FIRST EDITION, IN A CONTEMPORARY BINDING. Mather is referred to, on the title of this work, as Fellow of the Royal Society, causing Henry Stevens to atart a controversy over whether Mather was in fact elected. More recently, however, George Lyman Kittredge has shown that Mather was entitled to the F.R.S. rubric. Holmes 52A; Sabin 46253.
