The first named work with a half-page woodcut. (Some light mostly marginal spotting.) 19th-century red morocco, spine and sides with gilt triple fillet, edges gilt (spine lightly faded, extremities lightly rubbed). Provenance: Spencer Compton, 8th Duke of Devonshire (Chatsworth bookplate; sold, Christie's, 24 February 1982, lot 109).
A COLLECTION OF RARE ANTI-ABSOLUTIST TRACTS, FROM THE COLLECTION OF THE DUKES OF DEVONSHIRE AT CHATSWORTH. The illustrated broadside is not in Moreau and apparently unrecorded by WorldCat. Twelve of the Mazarinades are in verse, many described by Moreau as rare (their Moreau numbers are: 1696, 3899, 1778, 2246, 1806, 2429, 1948, 2750, 2435, 2685, 637, and 4048).
