4o (235 x 178 mm). 3 engraved folding plates of triumphal arches by C. LAPOER after ANTONIO QUADRI. Contemporary speckled calf (rebacked, covers repaired at upper corners). Provenance: several names added in a contemporary hand to the list of the names of participants.
Festivities surround the election of CARDINAL GAETANO STAMPA in Milan in February 1739. Upon his election, the city held this celebration. He had previously been elected titular archbishop of Calcedonia, before returning to his native Milan in 1737. The magnificent triumphal arches by Antonio Quadri that decorated the cardinal's entry into metropolitan Milan for the occasion are represented in the plates.
