6 hand-coloured copper engravings (c.295 x c.190mm), after Weber, and Fr. Vogel, mounted in an album, 2° (495 x 355mm). (One plate with repairs in the margin.) Sheep backed boards by Lemardeley (extremities rubbed). Provenance: armorial bookplate -- 'N.M.' (small stamp on verso of plates) -- Alexandre Sementchenkoff (sold, Christie's, 22 October 1987, lot 570).
THE SEMENTCHENKOFF COPY of this rare collection of hand-coloured engravings of Russian regimental uniforms: including the Lukashin Cuirassiers, Dragoons, and Hussars, Baranovksy Tartars, Don and Ural Cossacks, and others. Possibly from a total of 8 as sold in the Millot sale (n.621, 1904), but unrecorded by Colas and Lipperheide.
