The birth of the Bavarian Crown prince MAX EMANUEL (1662-1726), was celebrated by his parents FERDINAND MARIA Elector of Bavaria and HENRIETTE ADELAIDE with an opera, a tournament and fireworks. The 12 engraved plates by MATTHÄUS KÜSELL (1629-81) depict the stage design after LUDOVICO BURNACINI (1636-1707). document his theatrical work. The opera with libretto by Minato the music by Antonio Draghi (1627-1698), and the ballet by Giovanni Enrico Smelzer was performed in Vienna June 9, 1674.
