4o (252 x 200 mm). Engraved frontispiece portrait, engraved vignettes and large folding plate by ANTONIO BALDI after the design by MICHELANGELO DE BLASIO. Contemporary Italian calf gilt, edges gilt (some light rubbing, stain on upper cover, front hinge starting). Provenance: S.E.D. Paolo Borghese (bookplate; catalogue of the Bibliothèque de S.E.D. Paolo Borghese, Rome, 1892, no. 261).
PAOLA ODESCALCO was nineteen when she died a Duchess in Naples. The large folding plate shows the enormous catafalque erected for the occasion of her funeral at the Chiesa Gelormini. RARE.
