2 vols, 2° (360 x 225mm). Text printed within decorative engraved borders; the second work with 9 engraved vignettes. (Some soiling and marginal dampstaining, more pronounced in the first.) As issued, stitched and with coloured paper spines (light wear). Provenance: Paul M. Fekula.
THE FEKULA COPIES of two Nicholas I edicts detailing the rewards for service in the military and civil services. One of these includes fine engravings of the medals of The Order of St. Anne -- named after Peter the Great's daughter and awarded for gallantry or merit in action, it was established in 1735 and became one of Russia's highest distinctions by decree of Paul I. A copy of this document was shown in, and reproduced in the catalogue of, the Hermitage exhibition 'Heraldic Arts and the Art of the Book' (2007, p.59). Fekula 2103, 2104 (these copies). (2)
