Diary. From a Dead Man's Wallet: Confessions of a Bookmaker. Tokyo: Libro Port Publishing, 1993.
Quarto (300 x 225mm). Publisher's printed return card laid-in. Colour photographs throughout, red tissue guard before half-title. Original white cloth, original photo-illustrated dust-jacket, original printed wraparound band. Provenance: Peter Beard (gift inscription dated 28 April 1994 to: ) -- 'Mari and Masaru'.
FIRST EDITION, PRESENTATION COPY WITH BEARD'S HANDPRINT in blood-red ink and inscribed: 'warm greetings to Mari and Masaru'. Beard's tremendously energetic visual diaries of his extraordinary life can be interpreted as the manifesto of his subversive, iconoclastic view of photography. An excellent copy, complete with the wraparound band, of a work not published outside of Japan.
