[Venice]: Johannes de Colonia and Johannes Manthen, 11 June 1479. 2° (291 x 199mm), 239 leaves (of 240, lacking first leaf), 39 lines, roman and a little greek letter (first leaf browned and lightly soiled, last leaf cut down and mounted, last quire browned and with marginal stain, some light marginal browning, small wormhole in first and last few quires.) Burgundy crushed morocco by Sangorski and Sutcliffe, spine lettered in gilt, red sprinkled edges. Provenance: contemporary marginal annotations in a humanist hand (washed). FIRST EDITION of Platina's great history of the lives of the Popes, published during his own lifetime. HC *13045; BMC V, 235; Goff P-768.
