Lot Essay

A stamped and gilt inscription on the binding's flap states that 'this copy of the Koran was acquired in Omdurman after the battle of the 2. Sept. 1898 by Suleiman Lutaif Head-Interpreter to the Ist Brigade (Wauchope's) and by him given to Herbert A. Hills English Judge of Appeal in the Egyptian mized courts'.
