Machina eretta dal Senato di Reggio, in occasione d'alcuni Fuochi d'allegrezza fatti par la promotione alla Sacra Porpora dell'Altezza Serenissima del Signor Prencipe Cardinal Rinaldo, e consecrate alla Serenissima Altezza della Signora Duchessa Laura Duchessa di Reggio, Modena, &c.. On the occasion of the elevation of RINALDO D'ESTE (1655-1737) to Cardinal, the city of Reggio organized a celebration that included odes and sonnets delivered by local poets in honor of the Cardinal, apparati, decorations and arches were erected throughout the city, concerts were performed, and a spectacular fireworks display was arranged to commemorate the occasion. One plate illustrates the fireworks in the Piazza della Cittadella, while the second illustrates an allegorical float featuring a chariot of clouds being pulled by winged horses.
