    2o (335 x 220 mm). Engraved Royal arms on title. 19 engraved plates by ALEXANDER SPECCHI after SEBASTIANO CIPRIANI, including 4 folding. Contemporary vellum-backed decorated paper over boards; cloth folding case.

    The memorial service in Rome for JAMES II (1633-1701), King of England, Scotland and Ireland, in the church of San Lorenzo in Lucina in Rome. The largest folding plate contains a magnificent engraving of James's catafalque. The single page plates are of an emblematic character, emphasizing the virtues of James II and the happiness of the final period of his life under the protection of the Pope; three of these incorporate bird's eye views of London, Paris and Rome.
