Provenance:
Grand Duchess Elena Vladimirovna of Russia, Princess Nicholas of Greece, (1882-1957, bookplate) Princess Olga of Greece 1903-1997, inscription and then by descent to the current owner.
A fine album of photographs from the collection of Princess Nicholas of Greece, Grand Duchess Elena Vladimirovna, many taken by her on her own camera. They record summer visits to imperial residences at Tsarskoe Selo, and others, but mostly the Kantakousenos farm at Buromka. The captions, in Grand Duchess Elena's hand, identify a number of scenes: bathing in the Tsarskoe Selo pool, military reviews including the Nicholas Cavalry School, haymaking, hunting and the country fair at Buromka; and various family members and acquaintances: including Tsar Nicholas ('Niki'), Alix and children, Elena's parents Grand Duke Vladimir and Grand Duchess Maria, Princess Kantakouzenos, Count Nieroth, Beliaev, and many others including Elena's beloved spaniel Jack.
