Leiden: Pieter vander Aa, 1723. 4 volumes in two, 4° (243 x 190mm). Portrait of Scheuchzer engraved by Joseph Nutting after Melchior Füssli, additional engraved title by Anna Waser, titles printed in red and black with engraved vignettes, 10 divisional titles, 3 engraved dedication leaves, 139 engraved plates, of which 63 folding. (A little light soiling to some folding plates, a few others lightly evenly browned.) Contemporary calf, gilt spines (somewhat worn and lightly restored, spine labels lacking ). Provenance: Francis Ferrand Foljambe (title stamp).
Second, enlarged edition of Scheuchzer's survey of Switzerland, greatly expanded from the first edition of 1708 and detailing all of Scheuchzer's nine visits to the Alps between 1702 and 1711. Brunet V, 198; Nissen ZBI 3657.
