2 volumes, 4° (462 x 316mm). I: lithographic portrait of Maximilian Speck, 27 lithographic and engraved plates, one on china paper, mounted. II: Engraved portrait of Max Freiherr von Speck-Sternburg, 18 lithographic and engraved plates. (Spotting, lighter in the later vol.) Original printed boards backed and cornered in roan; contemporary German half calf over yellow boards, both with green edges.
An illustrated catalogue of the paintings, drawings, prints, and sculpture in the collection formed by Maximilian, Freiherr von Speck-Sternburg, a German wool merchant, at Lützschena near Leipzig. The main emphasis of the collection was on 17th-century Dutch and Flemish works, though selected paintings by contemporary European artists were present. Some plates in the second volume duplicate those in the first. (2)
