ST PETERSBURG -- PLUCHART, Alexandre (publisher). Souvenirs de Saint-Pétersbourg, collection de lithographies représentant des sujets nationaux, des équipages de ville et de voyages. [Suveniry Sankt Peterburga.] St. Petersburg: Alexandre Pluchart, 1825.
Oblong folio (247 x 354mm). 37 hand-coloured lithographs (of 38?) by various artists and lithographers, including A. Orlovskii, Aleksandrov, Swebach and Kollmann. (Occasional light marginal soiling, one plate with slightly shorter margins.) Contemporary diapered red morocco, gilt border on sides, printed list of captions dated 1824 pasted on the inside front cover (rebacked with the original spine laid down, corners repaired). Provenance: a contemporary reader (indistinct title signature) -- a ?German noble library (indistinct cypher, 'M.A.T.R.E.', surmounted by a ducal crown).
A collection of hand-coloured lithographs, by Kolmann, Orlovskii, Aleksandrov and others, showing scenes and various modes of transport in St. Petersburg and its surroundings. Copies of this 1825 edition are known with a varying number of plates; the list of caption calls for 36 plates but this copy includes 37, while examples with 38 are also recorded. RARE: not in Colas or Lipperheide. Cf. Colas 2778 and 2779 for the 1823 and 1824 editions with respectively 25 and 35 plates.
