Contemporary calf, sides and spine tooled in blind (spine ends chipped, extremities rubbed, scuffed). First edition in Russian. Translated from the French at the command of Peter I by V.K. Trediakovskii. With engravings by Aleksei Rostovtsev, Ivan Miakishev, Ivan Konstantinov, Martyn Nesterov, Stepan Matveev and Nikifor Il'in, under the supervision of Pierre Picard.
