Black morocco, gilt lettering and border, white moiré paper doublures, gilt edges (cover slightly scuffed, edges of rear endpaper lightly stained). Provenance: Grand Duke Vladimir Aleksandrovich (binding) -- 'Printed in Russia' (stamp) -- Paul M. Fekula.
PRESENTATION COPY TO GRAND DUKE VLADIMIR ALEKSANDROVICH, PRESIDENT OF THE IMPERIAL ACADEMY OF ARTS, WHICH HAD COMMISSIONED THE PUBLICATION. Suslov, from 1886 an Academician, travelled widely around the Russian Empire gathering information for his many works on the subject of old Russian architecture, and was involved in restoring many old churches in such places as Pskov and Novgorod.
