TENNIS TROPHY -- A Victorian silver-plated claret jug, maker's mark P&M, with scrolling handle and hinged lid, the neck chased with vases of flowers, the body with Greek key pattern and other linear designs, the base engraved: 'Devonshire Park Lawn Tennis Tournament 1878. First prize G.E. Brakspear. E.G. Colville.'
An early trophy offered by the Devonshire Park Lawn Tennis Club, [Eastbourne?], only four years after the invention of the game.
