Small 8o (159 x 98 mm). Engraved frontispiece, engraved title, and 11 engraved plates (6 hand-colored) (some light spotting throughout). Contemporary dark blue staright-grained morocco, covers with wide gilt roll border, gilt central panels and lozenges with semi-circles at the intersections, spine in 5 compartments, gilt-lettered in two, a repeated gilt panel in the rest, pink water-silk linings, edges gilt containing a fore-edge painting of A RIVER SCENE, blue straight-grained morocco gilt pull-off case, rubbed (upper hinge cracked). Provenance: N. J. Denby (faint pencil inscription); Estelle Doheny (bookplate; her sale Christie's New York, 21 February 1989, lot 1960).
