Quarto (223 x 200 mm). 87 black and white photographs. (Edges faintly browned, some spotting on the first and last few leaves not affecting the photographs.) Original black cloth, printed paper label on spine, original printed dust-jacket (spine head of dust-jacket chipped, spine and edges browned, small repairs from the verso).
FIRST EDITION. 'A GREAT WORK OF ART', which 'holds a well deserved place at the top of the pantheon' (The Photobook). American Photographs 'revolutionized the photobook' (Regards à travers le livre 69). The presumed first-issue: without the errata slip and with the back panel of the dust-jacket listing MoMA publications; copies are known with an errata slip and blank back panel but clear priority has not yet been established.
