8° (191 x 128mm). Half-title, woodcut frontispiece initialled C.R.A. in block, final 16 advertisement leaves. Original brown cloth, upper cover lettered and decorated in red and black, spine lettered in black (slight discolouration, upper hinge weak), unopened.
FIRST EDITION, PRESENTATION INSCRIPTION to: "M.C. Robbins. From H.G. Wells", with ink sketch of a picnic in woods and a boat inscribed "Woking 1895", on front blank. Filmed by Paramount, 1932, under the title Island of Lost Souls. Hammond B3; Wells 8.
