A George III ebonised and gilt-brass mounted ebonised quarter-chiming eight day table clock

The case with inverted bell top mounted with flaming urn finials, brass plumed herms trailing scrolls and foliate to the front angles, the sides with brass handles and brass-lined glazed panels, quarter frets (now lacking) to the brass-lined front and rear doors, the brass-bound double stepped base raised on brass feet, the 7 in. dial with scroll and foliate spandrels, engraved and silvered chapter ring signed John Ellicott/London with date square to the matted centre, subsidiary dial for strike/silent to the break arch, the triple line and fusee movement secured by two engraved brackets (formerly with four) with scroll engraving and conforming signature to back plate, seven ring turned pillars, verge escapement and striking the quarters on a nest of eight bells with rack strike and trip repeat on further bell; winding key, door key
